Starting veges from seed or buying punnets?

It's been a lovely sunny day here in Napier for getting out in the dirt, though the wind has been a bit cheeky. I'm wondering how everyone prefers to get their vege patch going for the season. Do you start everything from seed the old-fashioned way, or do you take the easy route with punnets from the garden centre?
